Second arrest made of LaPlace man on child porn

LAPLACE — A second arrest in two months has been made of another LaPlace man, this time charged with 10 counts of possession of child pornography.

Attorney General Charles Foti’s office confirmed that John Hearn, 51, of 2091 Lafitte Dr. in LaPlace was arrested and booked on Aug. 4 at the William Sherman Correctional Facility.

“The Attorney General’s Office is handling this case,” said Maj. Mike Tregre of the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office. “They called us to assist them.”

Officials form the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office said a bond of $125,000 has been set by Judge Sterling Snowdy. Hearn is still in custody.

This investigation was conducted as a part of ICAC, Internet Crimes Against Children, a task force which provides public education about Internet safety, investigates Internet-based child exploitation crimes, and provides computer forensic expertise to law enforcement agencies all over Louisiana, according to the Attorney General’s website.

The last arrest was on June 8 of Charles E. Watkins, 60, of LaPlace. Watkins was placed on house arrested.

Watkins was arraigned on Aug. 1 and plead not guilty. His court date should be set in the next couple of weeks. As of now, four arrest have been made, with two of the men’s names being withheld, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
