LULING – Tommy E. Alexander, 43, a native and resident of Luling, died July 26.

He as the husband of Doristine Alexander and father of Tomeleta, Carmeleta and Tommy Alexander Jr. and Tommy Hunter, and stepfather of Natasha Robertson.

He was also the son of Leona Hall Griffin, and the late Edward Alexander Jr., and brother of Eddie Eugene Hills, Theresa Revader, Bobbie Brown and Larry Alexander.

He is also survived by two grandchildren.

Services are today at 10 a.m., at Bell Baptist Church, Luling, with interment at Mt. Airy Memorial Park Cemetery, Boutte. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

BURCH

PARADIS – Peggy Sue Creppel Burch, 45, a native of Buras and a resident of Paradis, died July 26. She was the wife of Billy Burch.

She is survived by her children Jason Burch, Dewayne Burch, Terry Burch and Shannon Roberts.

She is also survived by her siblings Tilden Creppel Jr. and Linda Kay and grandchildren Marrisa, Dave and Allie Roberts and Dacey Burch.

She was preceded in death by her parents Tilton Sr. and Shirley LaFrance Creppel and her brother Jason Creppel.

Services were held July 29 at Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, Marrero, with interment in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery.

CUREAUX

GARYVILLE – George Benjamin Cureaux Jr., 76, a native and resident of Garyville, died July 25.

He was the husband of Diana Pappas Cureaux.

He is survived by his children Sheila (Dwight) McGhee and Karen (Gary) Morton.

He is also survived by his brother Roland Neville Sr., sister-in-law Jeanette Price, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents George Sr. and Stella Recard Neville Cureaux, siblings Earl V. Neville and Nellie Cureaux Wesley.

Services were held July 29 at St. Hubert Catholic Church, Garyville, with interment in St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve.

DUFRENE

LAPLACE – Herman Anthony Dufrene, 75, a native of LaPlace and a resident of Jefferson Parish. He was the husband of Imogene Bonvillian Dufrene.

He is survived by his children Carol Cazabon, Theresa, Penny, Troy and Eric Dufrene.

He is also survived by his siblings Linda Berggeren, Rita Falletta, Yvonne Vincent, Dorothy Blum, Geraldine, Jeanette, Emelda, Alvin, Earl, Adrian and Maurice Dufrene Jr., 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Eva Ballanger and Maurice Dufrene.

Services were held July 29 at Vickers, Verrette and Dornan Funeral Home, with a private interment.

LAWLEY

DES ALLEMANDS – Mary Taylor Lawley, 96, a native of Altoona, PA and a resident of Lacombe and Des Allemands. She was the wife of William B. Lawley.

She is survived by her children Edward Parks and Stephen Taylor Lawley and Mary Rachel Ertel.

She is also survived by her sister Elizabeth Hoyer, eight grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Services were held July 28 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Paradis.

MAYO

ST. JAMES – Robert “Cadillac” Mayo Sr., 60, a native of St. James and a residents of Gretna, died July 24.

He was the husband by first marriage of the late Helen Dianne Mayo and by second marriage of Rita Hayes.

He is survived by his children Robert Jr., Ronald Mayo, Carolyn and Angel Mayo.

He is also survived by his father Foster Mayo, siblings Lester and Clara Mayo, Judith Gaudia, Florida Rodrigue, Betty Frazier and Angela Landry, friend Hattie Wright, stepchild April Hayes, 11 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his mother Vivian T. Mayo and siblings Melba, Harold, Clifford and Steven Roy Mayo.

Services will be held today at 10 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, St. James, with interment in the church cemetery.

The Baloney Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Visitation at the church begins at 8:30 a.m.

MIRE

CONVENT – Theresa Mire, 72, a native of Convent and a resident of New Orleans, died July 23.

She is survived by her children Calvin, Ernest and John Mire.

She is also survived by her siblings Adolph Mire Jr., Ernestine Kelson, Diane Olive, Bessie McGhee and Doris Williams, two grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Services were held July 28 at Gertrude Geddes Willis Funeral Home, New Orleans, with interment in Providence Park, New Orleans.

NICKOLAUS

NORCO – Teddy E. Nickolaus, 52, a native of New Orleans and a resident of Norco, died July 2. He was the husband of Darlene Becker Nickolaus.

He is survived by his children Stacy A. Nickolaus and Lindsay R. Sanchez.

He is also survived by his siblings Frederick Jr. and Edward L. Nickolaus, grandchildren Buddy, Mikie, Destiny, Charlie and T.J., nieces and nephews Carolyn Nickolaus, Christine Buezo, Edward “Bubba” Nickolaus Jr., Dianna Nickolaus, Melissa, Eddie Jr., Michael and Crystal Becker, brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws Edward, Kathy, randy and Arlene Becker, Shelly and Roxanne Nickolaus and godchild Justin Stafford.

He was preceded in death by his parents Frederick Sr. and Althea Savarese Nickolaus, brother Ned Nickolaus and father-in-law Jacob Becker.

Services were held July 28 at Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp, New Orleans, with interment in Cypress Grove.

RODNEY

ST. JAMES – Gail Mae Stieb Rodney, 64, a native of St. James and a resident of Marrero, died July 24.

She was the wife of Rev. Stanley S. Rodney.

She is survived by her children Bonnie (Ernest) Henderson, Jacqueline (Jerome) Canselo, Dale (Gregory) Jacobs, Barbara (Tyrone) Carpenter, Candy (Minister Nathan) Dennis, Troy Greenup and Stanley (Jennifer) Rodney.

She is also survived by her siblings Theresa Tassin, Gladys Becnel, Marilyn Pierre, Ruby Joseph, Lisa Steib and Murphy Steib, 29 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Murphy and Theresa Smith Stieb.

Services were held July 29 at Progressive Baptist Church, Marrero, with interment in St. Luke Cemetery, Moonshine.
