LAPLACE — Check-Into-Cash on Airline Highway was robbed Monday afternoon at gunpoint.

The St. John Sheriff’s Office spoke with employees at Check-Into-Cash, located at 1520 W. Airline Hwy, and identified the robber as being a black male, small in build, wearing a black baseball cap and an orange, yellow and black button-down plaid shirt, according to Public Information Officer Maj. Mike Tregre of the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Tregre said the employees reported the subject entering the store around 3:30 p.m. and approached the counter with a small handgun, asking for money. The subject then escaped with an unknown amount of money and went in an unknown direction.

The area was checked as well as the surroundings, but nothing was found.

“We are working with other agencies,” Tregre said. “We wanted to find out if other businesses like this one have experienced the same thing. We have found one other business that has been robbed and identified a person fitting the same description as the one who robbed Check-Into-Cash.”

Tregre said if anyone has any information, please contact the Sheriff’s Office at (985) 652-6338.
