KENNER — A Reserve woman was killed in Kenner when she crashed into a tree after losing control of her car, according to Kenner police.

Denise Lipps, 30, of Lapeyrolerie Drive in Reserve, was traveling westbound on Third Street in Kenner at around 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, when she struck a tree and flipped her car over, Capt. Steve Caraway, spokesman for Kenner police, said.

Lipps was pinned inside her car, Caraway said, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

“We had some witnesses and one said she had passed him going a high rate of speed,” Caraway said, “So we have determined speed was a factor.”

Caraway said toxicology tests will determine if alcohol use was also a factor.
