HAHNVILLE — A St. Charles Parish couple has been arrested on charges of cruelty to the infirmed for neglecting to take proper care of the husband’s sick father, according to a report released by the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Michael Tamburello, 53, and his wife, Eula Tamburello, 50, of Destrehan, were arrested June 24, and were both booked with cruelty to the infirmed, theft of assets of the aged, and forgery. A warrant had been issued for the pair on Feb. 17, 2005.

According to Capt. Pat Yoes, spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, the couple has lived at Norman Tamburello’s residence for approximately 18 months.

With the father in failing health, the couple allegedly forged several checks in his name, amounting to several thousand dollars, Yoes said.

The report also said the suspects also allegedly left bills unpaid and kept no food in the house.

Both were released on June 27 from the St. Charles Correctional Center on personal surety.
