The 15th Annual St. Charles Parish Independence Day Celebration will be held on Sunday, July 3, at the West Bridge Park in Luling from 6-9 p.m.

“We are planning another family-oriented celebration with the local band “Local Option 2″ providing entertainment and ending with a professional fireworks display at approximately 9:00 PM,” noted Steve Sirmon, Public Information Officer for St. Charles Parish.

Refreshments will be sold by local non-profit organizations. The Girl Scouts will be selling hot dogs and the Boy Scouts will serve soft drinks. The Luling United Methodist Church will staff the nacho booth and the American Cancer Society will be offering pecan pies.

The Republican Women of St. Charles will have a sweets booth and, in addition, will be accepting donations for U.S. Troops in Iraq, specifically the 1/141st FA BN “Washington Artillery” (Task Force Thunder), Louisiana National Guard assigned to the 256th BCT, commanded by St. Charles Parish resident LTC Jordan Jones. Items specified are disposable cameras, DVD’s, phone cards, and cash donations.

“We invite everyone to bring their lawn chairs and come out to an evening of fun and fireworks,” said Sirmon.

This year’s event is being planned by Becky Gomez, Wanda Candies, Tim Vial, Steve Sirmon, Ali Aucoin and Larry Matson.
