LULIING – Joseph Eno Becnel, 79, a native of Vacherie and a resident of Luling, died June 3. He was the husband of the late Marguerite Dupont Becnel.

He is survived by his children Lyle and Pierre Becnel, Amanda Campbell, Lisa B. Edwards and Sarah Thigpen.

He is also survived by his grandchildren Joshua, Kara and Jessica Becnel, Blaine and Wesley Thigpen and Garrett Campbell.

He was preceded in death by his parents Bernard and Aimee Becnel, his brothers Bernard Jr., Pierre, Albert and Ray Becnel and his sisters Marie Reulet and Genevieve Labat.

Services were held June 6 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Luling, with interment in the St. Charles Cemetery, Luling.

rodriguez

LAPLACE – Ida Helen Rodriguez, 83, a resident of LaPlace, died June 5. She was the wife of Harris A. Rodriquez.

She is survived by her children Rosalie Lee and Maria (Paul) LeBlanc.

She is also survived by her grandchildren Daniel (Dora) Lee, Rachel (Tooral) Badie and Jeffrey (Melanie) LeBlanc, great-grandchildren Devan Lee, Dylan Lee and Klan Badie and brothers Ralph and Armand Gutierrez.

Services will be today at 11 a.m. at the Millet – Guidry Funeral Home, LaPlace, with interment in the St. John Memorial Gardens, LaPlace.

sweeney

DES ALLEMANDS – James “Doc” Sweeney Jr., 81, a native of Charleston, WV and a resident of Des Allemands, died June 4. He was the husband of Lupe Sweeney.

He is survived by his children James (Peggy) Sweeney, Burl Sweeney, Brenda (David) Hoffman, Monica (Pitin) Gonzales, Martha (Carroll) McHenry and June S. Brawley.

He is also survived by his sister Genevieve Johnson, 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents James and Cleo Sweeney.

Services were held June 7 at the Falgout Funeral Home, Raceland, with interment in the Restlawn Cemetery, Avondale.
