LAPLACE — A house fire in LaPlace has resulted in a joint arson investigation between the St. John Sheriff’s Office and the state fire marshall.

According to Maj. Mike Tregre, spokesman for the sheriff’s department, a call came in at 3:30 a.m. on Friday morning to report a residence on fire at 39 Sandpiper Drive.

Officers arrived on the scene to find the house completely engulfed.

Tregre said the fire department was then notified. Evidence of arson was discovered, and the investigation is pending.

The owner of the residence, Albert Tebault, has been reportedly having problems with some of his neighbors.

Tebault and his neighbors have quarreled for at least four years over his parking of limousines at and near his home, in violation of parish ordinances. He was arrested in 2001 on code violations and the charges are still pending.

The fire did extensive damage to the entire residence, including the garage and vehicles inside it.

No injuries were reported. Tregre said a neighbor called to report the fire, and no one was in the house at the at the time of the fire. Tebault was not at home and his family lives in New Orleans.
