Red Church Festival continues this weekend

DESTREHAN – The 25th Annual Little Red Church Food and Fun Festival will continue through this weekend until Sunday at the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 13396 River Road in Destrehan.

The festival continues today from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. The festival will feature food, games, live music and free parking.

“We’ll have jambalaya, crawfish stew, fried catfish, hamburgers and hot dogs,” said Festival Coordinator Ronald Rodrigue. “There will be amusement rides from Lowrey Brothers.”

Today’s featured band is “Bits and Pieces” performing from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and the “Top Cats” perform 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, said Rodrigue.

Other attractions include performances by area dance studios, a pageant, karate demonstrations and festival games, according Rodrigue.

“Bracelets for the amusement rides will be available on special,” said Rodrigue. “If you buy them early it is $45 for the whole weekend. If you buy after the festival has started, they start at $55.”

The bracelets may be purchased at Hibernia Bank in Destrehan or the church.
