VACHERIE – Jerome Cosey, 27, of New Orleans, also known as “Fifth Ward Webbie”, turned himself in to the St. James Parish Sheriff’s Department on Wednesday morning. He was arrested and charged with accessory to second degree murder of James Robinson III, 25, of Mt. Airy.

Capt. Sid Berthelot said Cosey showed up around 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday and is still in custody at the St. James Parish Jail.

“His bond was set at $100,000 by Judge Alvin Turner,” said Berthelot. “He has not posted bond yet, but is probably trying to work something out.”

A video tape and the camcorder was turned in and will be sent to the F.B.I Crime Lab to be reviewed. It will be checked to make sure it is the original copy of the tape and camcorder.

It will also be checked for any alterations that may have been done to the tape, before turning it in to cover possible evidence, according to Berthelot.

“We have no leads on who the actual shooter was,” said Berthelot. “We are waiting to see.”

Robinson was found shot twice inside Grant’s Bar, located at 2137 Perkins St. in Vacherie, on April 16 and died the next day from his wounds at Charity Hospital in New Orleans.

Cosey was said to have been in the car with the actual shooter and drove off after the incident, according to Berthelot.
