RESERVE-Looking to try and catch fire late in the season, the East St. John Wildcats beat H.L. Bourgeois 7-2 on Saturday afternoon.

The win moves the Wildcats to 18-12 overall and more importantly 10-5 in the ever-competitive district 6-5A.

Acting East St. John Head Coach Ronald Barrilleaux said his team is starting to turn their season around and is perhaps playing their best baseball of 2005 at the present moment.

“We really are coming together,” Barrilleaux said. “We struggled a little early on, but it was a big victory for us. Any victory is a big victory this late in the season.

“This victory solidifies us in third place in our district and all but clinches a playoff spot. That is all we want. We just want to get in and then see what happens.

Barrilleaux said the tough 6-5A play has helped.

“It’s a very tough district,” Barrilleaux said. “It will make us ready for the playoffs.”
