St. John deputies, State Police check for DWIs

RESERVE – The Louisiana State Police Troop-B and the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office teamed up on April 1 to conduct a DWI checkpoint in Reserve.

The checkpoint was located on US 61 at Jackson Street in Reserve, from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. A total of 567 cars were screened, 14 standardized field sobriety tests were conducted and eight people were arrested for driving while intoxicated, according to information provided by the Louisiana State Police.

The St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office provided a mobile command post allowing troopers to administer Intoxilyzer Test at the checkpoint.
