Little Red Church Festival scheduled in Destrehan

DESTREHAN – The 25th Annual Little Red Church Food and Fun Festival will be held April 29 to May 1 at the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 13396 River Road in Destrehan.

The festival will run from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday. The festival will feature food, games, live music and free parking.

“We’ll have jambalaya, crawfish stew, fried catfish, hamburgers and hot dogs,” said Festival Coordinator Ronald Rodrigue. “There will be amusement rides from Lowrey Brothers.”

There will also be three bands performing. On Friday “Off the Hook” will perform from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., on Saturday “Bits and Pieces” will perform 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on Sunday the “Top Cats” will perform 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., said Rodrigue.

Other attractions include performances by area dance studios, a pageant, karate demonstrations and festival games, according Rodrigue.

“Bracelets for the amusement rides will be available on special,” said Rodrigue. “If you buy them early it is $45 for the whole weekend. If you buy after the festival has started, they start at $55.”

The bracelets may be purchased at Hibernia Bank in Destrehan or St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.
