LAPLACE-Timothy Gauff was friends with a man who supposedly looked at someone the wrong way on Easter Sunday.

For that, he got a bullet in his leg.

Demar Grover, 18, of Reserve, has been booked with attempted second degree homicide in the shooting of Gauff, also 18.

Also booked in connection with the shooting is Demar’s brother, Stanel Grover, 26, with principle to attempted second-degree homicide, and Rondell Jasper, 18, of Reserve, with principle to second-degree homicide as well as obstruction of justice.

According to Maj. Mike Tregre of the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office, Jasper provided and disposed of the weapon.

The shooting may have been related to an altercation Stanel Grover had with an unknown friend of Gauff’s on Sunday, Tregre said. The fight apparently started because Demar did not like the way Stanel was being looked at by the man.

On Monday, the Grover brothers and Jasper were riding around Garyville looking for Gauff’s friend when they spotted Gauff with some friends at the Fast Stop convenience store on Hwy. 44. The men were asking Gauff where his friend was when he saw a gun. Gauff tried to back away and was shot one time in the thigh, Tregre said.

The men fled and Gauff was transported to River Parishes Hospital where he was treated and released.

Tregre said the three were arrested within an hour of the shooting, and all have confessed.

Demar Grover’s bond is set at $150,000. Stanel Grover and Jasper’s bond are set at $75,000 each. The three are being held at Sherman Walker Correctional Facility in LaPlace.

At press time, the weapon still has not been located.
