LAPLACE – Jevon Johnson has been arrested for the shooting near Club Fusion on Airline Highway in LaPlace, which occurred on March 6.

Both Johnson and his mother have been taken into custody.

Maj. Michael Tregre reported the sheriff’s office being notified of Johnson’s whereabouts around 5 p.m. Tuesday.

“We went to the residence and knocked on the door,” said Tregre. “We were greeted by Johnson’s mother.”

Johnson’s mother, Yvonne Warren, denied knowing where her son was.

The officers then asked permission to search the house and she cooperated, according to Tregre.

After searching the house, Johnson was found “hiding in the closet,” said Tregre.

Johnson and Warren were both arrested and taken into custody.

Johnson was charged with attempted second-degree murder of Ronald Ellis, 32, of LaPlace who suffered entrance and exit wounds to his abdomen.

Warren was charged with accessory after the fact to attempted second-degree murder.

During the search for Johnson, officials tried to work with Johnson’s family in order to persuade Johnson to turn himself in to authorities, but the family denied any whereabouts.

A bond has yet to be set for Johnson or his mother.
