LAPLACE-Despite a disappointing season in terms of wins and loses, the St. Charles Catholic girl’s basketball team did pick up several post-season accolades recently.

Five Lady Comets were named to the all-district squad as Rynique Perkins, Mary Clement, Kayla Rebaldo and Angelle Cupit earned all 10-3A honors.

With several of his softball players also only the women’s basketball team, St. Charles Catholic Athletic Director David Lowry said he is very proud of the individual accomplishments of the four Lady Comets.

“We are really proud of the four young ladies for their accomplishments,” Lowry said. “Having two seniors and two underclassmen get all-district honors speaks good for the program.

“Unfortunately for those kids, I bet each one would tell you that they would trade those individual accolades for doing a little bit better as a team.”

Having two underclassmen in Perkins and Clement make all-district, Lowry said the future is bright for the Lady Comets.

“You have got to very quality young ladies in Mary and Rynique,” Lowry said. “They are very capable offensively and having two players coming back of their caliber next year really is key for the potential of what this program can accomplish.”
