LAPLACE-After capturing the district 10-3A championship, the St. Charles Catholic Comets have begun to be formally recognized for their successful season.

The Comets placed three members on the all 10-3A squad.

Michael Troglen was named Most Valuable Player of the district and Casey Robottom was named Defensive Player of the Year. They were joined on the team by sharpshooter Andrew Coleman.

“It is always nice for the kids to get those individual accolades,” a happy Comets Head Coach Jeff Montz said. “That only happens when the team is able to accomplish things and we were able to do that this season. We could have had even more.

“We your team doesn’t succeed it seems as though you don’t get a lot or as much individual recognition for your team as you want. Those three players earned it and I am happy for them.”

The scary thing for Comets opponents next season is that Troglen is not a senior and

will be back to try and claim another district title for the Comets as well as Most Valuable Player honors.

“It has been nice to have a player like Michael for three years,” Montz said. “I am glad to have all three of these guys back for next season.

“We are going to miss our seniors because they were really important to our success as a team, but we still have a lot of kids coming back so I am looking forward to the 2005-06 season.”
