EDGARD – Joseph T. Bailey Jr., 54, a native of Hahnville and resident of Luling, died March 10.

He was the husband of Scherline Gilbert Bailey and father of Takeiska Sylvester, Tiffany Stewart, Sheba Smith, Tara, Krishna, David Bailey, Lemond and Demond Stewart.

He was also the son of Ruby Fiffie Byrd, and the late Clayton Byrd, and brother of Sheba Johnson, Judy Jack, Marita Johnson, Trinell Bailey, Mark Barnes, Thomas Bailey, and the late David Byrd.

He is also survived by 11 grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m., at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Edgard, with interment at Mt. Airy Memorial Park Cemetery, Boutte. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

CHAMPAGNE

LULING – Alfred Pierre Champagne, 69, a resident of Luling, died March 14.

He was the husband of Betty Matherne Champagne and father of Denise Guedry, Debra Rankin, Melanie and Alfred W. Champagne.

He was also the son of the late Alfred and Myrthea Vicknair Champagne, and brother of Nathan and Wayne, and the late Errol Champagne.

He is also survived by six grandchildren.

He was a retired educator in the St. Charles Parish school system with 37 years of service and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 2409.

He was also a former member of the Board of Directors for the German Coast Federal Credit Union and also the United Way Toy and Gift Fund.

Services were March 17 at noon at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Luling, with interment at St. Charles Mausoleum, Luling.

DILL

NORCO – Anna Laura Barthel Dill, 90, a resident of Norco for 68 years, died March 16.

She was the wife of 51 years of the late David Dill, and mother of Janet Shafer, Connie Kenney and David Dill III.

She is also survived by eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandchild.

She was a retired St. Charles Parish school teacher.

Services are today at 9:30 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Norco.

FOLSE

DESTREHAN – Lloyd Joseph Folse, 60, a resident of Luling, died March 13. He was the husband of Joan Haas Folse and father of Stacie Keller.

He was also the son of Sophie Kliebert and O’Neil Folse Sr., and brother of Neil, Jerry, Carl, and the late O’Neil Folse.

Services were March 16 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Destrehan, with interment at McDonough Cemetery, Gretna.

HOLMES

MARRERO – Flandus “June” Holmes Jr., 41, a native of New Orleans and resident of Luling, died March 10. He was the husband of Donna Holmes, father of Anthony Young and Jamal Taylor, and stepfather of Yvonne, DeVon and Quincy Albert.

He was also the brother of Audrey Williams, Patrice McKinnis, Terry Johnson, Sherry Washington, Betty Enchlade, Anthony Griffin and Vida Holmes.

Services were March 18 in the chapel of Davis Mortuary, Marrero, with private intermen.

JOSEPH

EDGARD – Bemis “Couchie” Joseph, 97, a native of Taft and resident of Lucy, died March 9. He was the husband of the late Georgina Martin, and father of the late Samuel Joseph Sr.

He was also the son of the late Marie Johnson and Adam Joseph, and brother of Alberta Santiago. He is preceded in death by three sisters and 14 brothers.

He is also survived by eight grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.

Services were March 18 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Edgard, with interment at the church cemetery.

MORRIS

EDGARD – Mary Agnes “Sister/Mom” Morris, 81, a resident of Edgard and Kenner, died March 12. She was the mother of Norris Morris Jr., Vernon Morris, Carlos Morris, Marilyn Hurst, Judy Barre, and Susan Cook.

She is also survived by 24 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Services are today at 1:30 p.m., at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Edgard, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 12:45 p.m.

POIRRIER

VACHERIE – Dolores “Doe” Himel Poirrier, 72, a native of Thibodaux and resident of Vacherie, died March 15. She was the wife of 55 years of Whitney Poirrier and mother of Cheryl Radosta, Kay Matherne and Monique Magee.

She was also the daughter of the late Emma Clement and Walter Himel, and sister of Bea Easley, Doris Aucoin and Gertrude Owens, and the late Elva Chaisson, Anna Mae Raziano, Edward and Norman Himel.

Services were March 17 at St. Philip Catholic Church, Vacherie, with interment at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, South Vacherie.

VILEMONT

LAPLACE – Pearl M. Clement Vilemont, 83, a native and resident of LaPlace, died March 15. She was the wife of the late Chester E. Vilemont, and mother of Sandra Oubre, Sylvia Babin, and Lorraine V. Hidalgo McIntyre.

She was also the daughter of the late Louis and Marie Clement and sister of the late Gordie Madere, Edeze Edler, and Earl Clement Sr.

She is also survived by five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services were March 18 in the chapel of Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, LaPlace, with interment at St. John Memorial Gardens.
