GOLF TOURNAMENTS SET

LaPlace area junior golfers ages 11-18 are invited to compete in the Caroline Junior Classic at Caroline Golf Club in Madison, Mississippi on March 12-13th. The two-day, 36-hole tournament is ranked by the National Junior Golf Scoreboard and hosted by the four-state (Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida) Arrowhead Junior Golf Tour. St. Peter Chanel School’s Annual Golf Tournament will be held on Monday, March 14, 2005, at Riverlands Country Club, in LaPlace. It will be a four-man scramble, teeing off at 1:00 p.m. The entrance fee is $100 per golfer, and includes St. Peter Chanel gift, green fees, cart, range balls, refreshments, sweets, food on the course and dinner in clubhouse that evening. Hole sponsorships are $100.00. Sponsorship tee box signs will also be displayed at the annual Spring Festival (March 18-20).

TEN STAR ALL-STAR BASKETBALL CAMP

Applications are now being evaluated for the Ten Star All-Star Summer Basketball Camp. The camp is by Invitation Only. Boys and girls ages 10-19 are eligible to apply. Past participants include: Michael Jordan, Tim Duncan, Vince Carter, Jerry Stackhouse, Grant Hill and Antwan Jamison. Players from 50 state and 17 foreign countries attended the 2004 camp. College basketball scholarships are possible for players selected to the All-American team. HUNTER EDUCATION COURSE SCHEDULED

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and local volunteers are sponsoring hunter education courses in the community. Anyone born on or after Sept. 1, 1969 must take this course before purchasing a hunting license at age sixteen.

The course is free to the public and anyone ten years and older can be certified for life in all fifty states. Participation the entire length of course is mandatory and tardiness is grounds for dismissal. Dates are March 19-20 at the Sheriffs Riffle Range on Savanne Road in Houma from 7:30 a.m. Until 4 p.m. both days. BASEBALL REGISTRATION SET

Ascension of Our Lord Recreation Program will hold registration for summer baseball and softball on Sunday April 3 and 17 from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Leagues include T-ball for 4-6 year old boys and girls, coaches pitch baseball for 7-9 year old boys and cabbageball for girls, and baseball for 10-14 year old boys.
