River Parishes Hospital is accepting nominations for the 2005 Mercy Award, which is the highest honor a LifePoint employee can receive. Employees may be nominated by a physician, coworker, former hospital patient or any member of the community.

The 2005 Mercy Award was created in 2002 in honor of Scott Mercy, Lifepoint Hospitals’ founding Chairman and CEO.

Mercy was a humanitarian, giving time and money to causes he believed in.

He also believed in living a balanced life – nurturing family and career, staying healthy and making time for self-improvement and fun. In May 2000, Mercy lost his life in an airplane accident, a loss felt deeply in the hearts of those who knew him.

The Mercy Award pays tribute to him and to the employees who keep his spirit alive.

Winners are selected for: consistently going above and beyond the call of duty in serving patients and community; demonstrating a level of commitment that transcends the everyday; respecting others in everything they do; and inspiring others with compassion, dedication and merciful spirit.

One winner from each LifePoint facility will receive a personalized award certificate and a $500 cash award.

River Parishes Hospital’s winner will then compete against winners at other Lifepoint facilities to be selected as the 2005 Mercy Award Winner.

This employee will receive an all-expense paid trip for two to Las Vegas, Nevada, at which time he/she will be presented a $5,000 cash award and a special gift.

Letters of nomination should be submitted to Kat Trepagnier, Human Resources Director, River Parishes Hospital, 500 Rue de Sante, LaPlace, LA 70068 and must be received by 8 am on Wednesday, March 16.
