RESERVE – Authorities arrested a Reserve man Tuesday morning and charged him with aggravated cruelty to animals after the man confessed he beat his two-month-old puppy to death because the dog was sick.

Terrance Wolfe, 32, of 329 Melius Drive, Reserve remains in the Sherman Walker Correctional Center in lieu of a $13,000 bond set by Judge Madeline Jasmine.

Tregre said the sheriff’s office received a telephone call at 7:48 a.m. regarding an injured puppy.

He said when sheriff’s officers arrived at Wolfe’s home, they found an unresponsive pit bull lying in the back yard.

The dog had head wounds sustained from severe blows delivered by Wolfe, said Tregre.

Tregre said a brown mop stick was used to beat the dog.

He said the mop stick was found five feet from the puppy.

The two officers attempted to arrest Wolfe.

“Wolfe briefly struggled in resisting arrest. He was arrested and taken into custody,” said Tregre.

According to Tregre, the puppy was barely breathing when authorities called the St. John the Baptist Parish Animal Control Center.

Tregre said that by the time personnel from the Animal Control Center arrived at Wolfe’s house, the puppy was dead.

In a separate incident, authorities responded Tuesday night to an armed robbery which occurred at Cricket’s Corner on Museum Street in Garyville.

bar and threatened everybody. They told the patrons to get on the floor and not to move,” said Tregre.

Tregre said there were approximately six customers in the bar at the time of the robbery.

He said the gunmen robbed the cashier, but did not rob the patrons.

“Both of the men had hand guns. They wore masks over their faces and had gloves on their hands,” said Tregre.

The two, black males escaped with an undisclosed amount of money.
