Oak Alley plans 14th arts festival

VACHERIE – Oak Alley Plantation will hold its 14th Annual Spring Arts & Crafts Festival on Saturday, March 12 and Sunday, March 13, 2005 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. More than 150 artists and craft vendors from throughout the country will be on hand featuring original and handmade creations such as jewelry, furniture, clothing, home accessories, paintings and prints, pottery, wooden crafts, toys and much more! New this year is a caricaturist as well as a rock climbing wall and Pony rides for the kids!

As always, there will be a delicious selection of great food like fried eggplant with crawfish sauce, smoked grillade po-boys, seafood pasta and plenty of sweets.

There will also be a diverse entertainment schedule with singers and dancers performing throughout each day including LA Kids Showcase, Crescent City Big Band and The Center for Performing Arts.

Admission proceeds from the festival will be used for the preservation, upkeep and maintenance of Oak Alley Plantation, a National Historic Landmark, which is owned and operated by a private, non-profit foundation. Admission for the festival (tours of the mansion not included) is as follows: $5 – 19 yrs. & over; $2 – 6 to 18 yrs.; there is no charge for kids 5 yrs. & under.
