Actor to speak in Garyville

Actor Todd Bridges of the television show, “Different Strokes,” will be the guest speaker at the New Hopeful Baptist Church on Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. Rev. Roland Morgan invites the public to the church, at 338 Fig St., Garyville.

Stepping Back into Time

San Francisco Plantation is conducting its annual “Stepping Back into Time” school project. All fourth-grade classes in St. John Parish are invited to participate, with the program including onsite demonstrations. Upcoming dates are March 22-23 and April 5-6.

Gumbo Theater set Sunday

“Gumbo Theater” is coming Feb. 27 at Bot’s Place (the old Roussell’s Antiques) on Airline Highway in LaPlace, starting at 5 p.m. “Gumbo Theater” is a project of Victorious Communications Community Outreach.

Guest speaker will be Malik Baloney.

Caregiver Event at Hospital

A Family Caregiver Workshop is set Feb. 24, from 9 a.m. To 2 p.m., co-sponsored by River Parishes Hospital, St. John Parish Council on Aging and Twin Oaks Nursing Home.
