BATON ROUGE – Seimone Augustus, a junior guard for LSU’s top-ranked Lady Tigers basketball team, was named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week on Monday for her efforts in LSU’s two wins last week.

Augustus averaged 19.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists in LSU’s (23-1, 10-0 SEC) wins over No. 5 Tennessee and at South Carolina. The Baton Rouge native led the way with a game-high 25 points and collected six rebounds and five assists in the Lady Tigers home win over Tennessee on Thursday night. She then returned on Sunday to score a team-high 13 points to lead LSU past South Carolina.

Including last week’s games, Augustus has scored in double figures in a school record 50 straight games and in 85 of the 93 games in her career. She also moved up to seventh in LSU history with 1,665 points.

Augustus and LSU are 10-0 in the SEC for the first time in school history and have won 10 straight games in conference play for the first time.

This is the second time this season Augustus has earned the honor and the fourth time in her career.

The SEC selects a Player of the Week each week from a list of nominations for each of the league’s 12 schools.

Augustus and the Lady Tigers return to action on Thursday when they host the Lady Wildcats Kentucky at 7 p.m. CST in the Maravich Center.
