EDGARD-These are the types of games that will keep coaches up late into the night with thoughts of what could have been.

Leading heading into the fourth quarter against Fisher on the road, the West St. John girls squad was outscored 22-13 in the final quarter and was defeated, 57-53.

Jada Fiffie, as usual led the Lady Rams with 18 points and Traje Williams had 15 points. Junior guard Kelly Young also contributed 11 points in the defeat.

The loss drops West St. John to 7-8 on the season and 5-4 in district 10-2 play. Concluding their regular season last night against Buras on the road, the Lady Rams now await their fate with the announcement of the playoff brackets for Class 2A.

Playing in one of the tougher districts in the state Buras, Fisher, McGehee, Redeemer-Seton, Riverside, St. Martin’s and the Lady Rams will all battle for three automatic playoffs spots given to the top three finishers in each district throughout the state. The seven-team district 10-2A will also more than likely be battling for one of the wildcard positions given on selection day as the strength of the district will work to all the team’s advantages.

Now the Lady Rams must wait and see.
