LAPLACE – The newly-hired executive director for the River Region Tourism Commission, 24-year-old Jesse Woltz, has hit the ground running.

Sharing space with the River Region Chamber, the Tourism Commission promotes tourism and special conventions and exhibits in the River Parishes.

Woltz found her way to the Tourism Commission by a convoluted route. The Lake Charles native graduated from LSU with a psychology degree, intent upon becoming a marriage therapist.

From there, she moved into medical sales, and soon found herself at the State Office of Tourism, where Woltz found her true calling – tourism.

“It was a perfect fit,” Woltz said.

Her job at the state was as an assistant marketing director, so “This is a big step up,” Woltz said.

“I’m thrilled at this opportunity, and I already have a sense of pride coming into this area. Everyone has been so supportive and friendly.”
