It was a nail biter, but the end result put a smile on the fans of the Riverside girls basketball team.

Winning another important district game, the Lady Rebels defeated Fisher on Tuesday night 28-27.

Jena Elfer led Riverside with 10 points.

With the win, the Rebels improve to 8-11 on the season and a very impressive 5-2 in district play.

Riverside head coach Jody LeBlanc was pleased with his team’s ability to come back and grab the victory.

“We got down early,” LeBlanc said. “So we had to step up the defense and start trying to score more on the offensive end. It worked out well for us.

“They had a chance to win it in the end, but they missed both of their free throws.”

LeBlanc likes how his team is playing right now.”

“We are playing good basketball right now,” LeBlanc said. “But the game we had Friday against St. Martin’s is always tough. They are beatable, but we have to play well.

“After that we just have to go on from there. In order for us to be successful, we have to start scoring more points.”
