LAPLACE – One arrest has been made and more are pending, regarding the drive-by shooting Sunday morning which left one dead and three injured, two of those with gunshot wounds.

Maj. Michael Tregre of the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office reported the arrest of Joshua Jones, 18, of LaPlace. He has been charged with first-degree murder and four counts of being a principal to attempted first-degree murder.

Detectives are attempting to get more information from him on the other passengers in the suspect vehicle, Tregre added, which was described as a green Oldsmobile Cutlass by the survivors from the incident.

At 2:17 a.m., on Sunday, deputies were alerted to a white Oldsmobile 88 in the ditch along the 500 block of Central Avenue in Reserve, near the Illinois Canadian Railroad.

When deputies arrived, they found Byron Davis, 22, of 404 Historic East St., in Garyville, slumped across the front seat, having been shot once in the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other passengers were:

€ Kewan Fabre, 18, of Garyville, who was shot in the back of the head and was reported in stable condition at Charity Hospital in New Orleans;

€ David Prembrooke, 19, of Garyville, who was uninjured;

€ Tramon Dixon, 17, of Garyville, who was shot in the right arm and was reported in stable condition at Charity;

€ A 16-year-old Garyville male, who was not identified because of his age. He sustained a broken leg and was transported to River Parishes Hospital for treatment.

Tregre related that one passenger told investigators that the five earlier had an argument with a group of men at Club Fusion in LaPlace. The reason for the argument was not revealed.

Tregre said more arrests are pending in the next few days.

Anyone with information to assist investigators is asked to call Detective Royal Burke at 652-2773.
