District play is suppose to be the toughest part of your schedule.

Don’t tell that to Tim Byrd and the Reserve Christian boys basketball team.

The Eagles (22-13) concluded one of the toughest pre-district schedules in the nation this past week when they captured the Flying to the Hoop Tournament Title in Dayton, Ohio.

Sandwiched around a 71-50 loss to Centerville (OH) the Eagles defeated Hamilton (OH) 53-50 and Livingston (TX) 77-71 in the championship game.

Byrd looks forward to a solid run at the district title once his team gets their legs underneath them again.

“I think the number one thing is that we have got to get re-energized,” Byrd said. “We just have to shake off this fatigue that we have and just get rested.

“Winning this tournament is going to help us and give our kids confidence and secondly once we get re-energized, I think the tough schedule is going to pay off for us in district play.

One of the top teams in the state, the Eagles began district play Friday when they traveled to take on Northlake Christian and after taking on Country Day in Metaire, the Eagles will play host to powerhouse Assumption on Tuesday at 6:00 pm.
