It’s not the type of start that girls of St. Charles Catholic wanted to get off to in 10-3A play.

Opening up district play on Tuesday, E.D. White beat the Comets 50-43.

The loss was the first in district play for SCC this season and dropped them below .500 for the year at 10-11.

Rynique Perkins led St. Charles Catholic with 17 points and Angelle Cupid had 12 points.

SCC head coach Erin Remondet said her team made too mental mistakes at critical times.

“We played well,” Remondet said. “We just had too many turnovers and too many mistakes at key moments in the game. You cannot do that if you want to come away with a victory.

“Their (E.D. White) press was not a factor until the end. We played well against their pressure defense for nearly the entire game. The last part of the fourth quarter we started to struggle with it and started turning the ball over.”

After taking on Lutcher Friday night, SCC will welcome St. James for a 6:00 tip-off on Tuesday night.
