Playing without Ryan Perrilloux, the East St. John boys used a balanced scoring effort to beat H.L. Bourgeois 55-44.

Ricardo Porter led the Wildcats with 13 points. Lazaro Young added 12 and Ryan Stipe had eight points in the Wildcat victory.

“We tried to go inside early,” East St. John head coach Charles Julian said. “Because we knew that we had a size advantage against them. We wanted an up-tempo game and we were able to do that. Couple that with our depth and we just wore them down.

“I feel that with our depth we are able to play 9-10 people on any given night and I felt like they could not go as deep. It was kind of difficult for us to come together and get into the flow of the game because I was trying to get so many kids in so we could stay fresh and wear them down.”

After taking on Lutcher, ESJ returns to action Tuesday when they travel to South Lafourche.
