ESJ Lady Wildcats have 88-1 record over nine years

RESERVE – When the East St. John Lady Wildcats play at home, you can just about guarantee the team will chalk up a win.
Heading into the its recent match-up against Bonnabel, East St. John head coach Troy Giordano noted that, over the past nine years, the Lady Wildcats sported an 88-1 home record.
You can now make that 89-1 after a 76-37 trouncing of Bonnabel.
“The girls take pride in defending their home court,” Giordano said. “They play really well at home.”
After a shaky start this season, the Lady Wildcats appear to be playing well on the road as well as at home. After the thrashing of Bonnabel, the Lady Wildcats have posted three victories in a row and stand at 6-8 on the season.
The outcome of the Bonnabel contest was never in doubt as the Lady Wildcats bolted out to a 27-6 lead at the end of the first quarter. East St. John’s foe hit just one basket, a 3-pointer, the entire quarter.
Leslie Forest had a sterling performance for the victors as she grabbed 15 rebounds, scored 12 points and added five blocked shots. Teammate Gaynelle Brown had a tremendous effort as well as she collected 16 rebounds and added 14 points.
Crystal Fleming led the offensive attack for the Lady Wildcats with 19 points and Randi Donald followed with 16 points for the winners.
After jumping on Bonnabel early, East St. John continued its scoring streak in the second quarter.
In that frame, the Lady Wildcats went on a 19-11 run to take a commanding 46-17 lead at the halftime intermission.
