LAPLACE – A 34-year-old man was jumped and beaten by two strangers, while he delivered ad papers to local residents, said authorities with the St. John the Baptist Sheriff’s Office.
Kenneth Bolden stopped a patrol officer on Nov. 24 at 9:07 a.m. to report that he was attacked at the intersection of Penn Court and Colony Court by two black males.
According to Bolden, one of the men had a brown complexion and was bald. The attacker was wearing a red shirt, with black lettering.
Bolden could not identify the second man that ambushed him. However, he told authorities the suspect was riding a green bicycle.
According to authorities, Bolden’s co-worker witnessed the incident. The worker verified information given by Bolden.
Both men told authorities they were employed by the St. John the Baptist Parish Association for Retarded Citizens.
In a separate incident, a LaPlace man told authorities Sunday that someone stole a freezer filled with meat from his back yard while he was conducting a yard sale.
Remy Hahn, 64, of 1501 Ridgefield Drive reported numerous items stolen from his backyard.
Hahn said he began the yard sale Friday, Nov. 26. He said he was certain the merchandise, which he valued over $500, had not been sold.
In addition to the freezer and food being stolen, Hahn reported he was missing a $150 crock-pot, a $149 air compressor, a Christmas tree and a white rabbit.
Hahn told authorities the last time he remembered seeing the missing items was Nov. 26.
