THIBODAUX – Antonio Phillips scored twice to help boost the St. James Wildcats over E.D. White Friday night by a 19-17 score.
E.D. White got on the board first with a first-quarter field goal, setting them up with a 3-0 lead.
In the second quarter, Phillips scored on a 1-yard quarterback sneak and with the PAT, the Wildcats were up, 7-3.
Tramain Dapremont scored in the second quarter on a 1-yard run, the TD set up by a 79-yard run by Jason Zenon. The PAT missed, but St. James was still ahead 13-3.
E.D. White scored in the second quarter on their first possession to try and stay in the game, tightening the tally to 13-10.
With the ball still in St. James’s hands, Phillips scored his second touchdown of the evening, capping a drive late in the third quarter which spilled into the fourth. This was a keeper on a play-action pass, which fooled the E.D.White defense and gave the Wildcats a 19-10 lead.
Finally, midway in the fourth quarter, E.D. White scored again to keep the game tight with a 19-17 total on the scoreboard.
E.D. White had a chance to steal away the game with 38 seconds on the clock, setting up a 42-yard field goal.
With a successful field goal, the score would have been 20-19 in favor of E.D. White.
However, fortune smiled on the Wildcats, who were able to come home after a grueling evening, bringing back a 19-17 victory.
