CULVER
ZACHARY – Janet A. Culver, RN, 84, a native of Denver, Colo., longtime resident of Destrehan and resident of Zachary, died July 19. She was the wife of the late William Culver Sr., and mother of Marcia Culver and William Culver Jr.
She was also the sister of Judith Ehlies, Maude Altman and Mary Johns.
She was a nurse at the Pascagoula Shipyards during World War II, then a Public Health Nurse with the St. Charles Parish Health Unit. She was the plant nurse at Monsanto Co. in Luling for 25 years.
Graveside services are today at 10:30 a.m., at Young Family Cemetery, Zachary.
DUHON
GRAMERCY – James L. “Jimmy” Duhon Sr., 94, a native of St. James Parish and resident of LaPlace, died Aug. 6. He was the husband of the late Alice Roberts Duhon, and father of Viola Segarl, Delphine Gremillion, Paula Cassagne, Louise Baird, Theresa Jacob, James Jr., Ronald, Leonard and Melvin Duhon.
He was also the brother of Ruby Duhon.
He is also survived by 25 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Services were Aug. 11 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Gramercy, with interment at St. Joseph Cemetery, Paulina.
ROME
DES ALLEMANDS – Harold Joseph Rome, 72, a native and resident of Des Allemands, died Aug. 6. He was the husband of Josephine Rousseau Rome,
father of Linda Kraemer, Kathie Mancuso, Della Guiolliot, Cindy Candies, Bonnie Boudoin, Tammy Loupe and Randy Rome Sr., and stepfather of Dudley and Douglas Rousseau.
He was also the son of the late Isai and Lauralie Folse Rome, and brother of Agatha Falgoust.
He is also survived by 23 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, 31 step-grandchildren and 18 step-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by two grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
Services were Aug. 11 at Assembly of God Church, Des Allemands, with interment at the Mennonite Cemetery, Des Allemands.
SCIONEAUX
LAPLACE – Irvin J. Scioneaux Sr., 61, a native and resident of Reserve, died Aug. 10. He was the father of Irvin Scioneaux Jr.
He was also the brother of Lillian Starlone, Lorraine Loupe and Doris Savoie.
He is also survived by two grandchildren.
Services were Aug. 12 in the chapel of Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, LaPlace.
SMITH
PONCHATOULA – Almon Clark Joseph “Al” Smith III, 73, a native and resident of Ponchatoula, died Aug. 9. He was the husband of Carolina Sanchez Smith and father of karen Kluka, Sharon Walton and Almon Smith IV.
He was also the son of the late Almon Jr. and Theodora Whitney Smith, and brother of Theodora Eichbrecht, Ruth Biery and Ralph Smith.
He is also survived by eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He attended Southeastern Louisiana University, served in the U.S. Naval Reserve and in the U.S. Air Force and was a past adjunct for American Legion Post 47. He was a switching equipment technician for South Central Bell.
Services were Aug. 12 in the chapel of Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Ponchatoula.
WAGUESPACK
VACHERIE – Clifford Philip Waguespack, 72, a native and resident of Vacherie, died Aug. 9. He was the husband of the late Betsy W. Waguespack, and father of Kathy Naquin, Kim Steib, Kaye Scioneaux and Kerry Waguespack.
He was also the son of the late Adam Sr. And Myrthee Simon Waguespack, and brother of Donald, Lloyd, Lester, and the late George and Adam Waguepack Jr.
He is also survived by eight grandchildren.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1514 and was an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion for St. Philip Catholic Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran, served in the Louisiana Army National Guard and retired from Shell Oil in Norco.
Services were Aug. 11 at St. Philip Catholic Church, Vacherie, with interment at the church mausoleum.
WOMAX
LAPLACE – Paul L. Womax, 84, a native of Ohio and resident of LaPlace for 45 years, died Aug. 11. He was the husband of Ellene Womax and father of Sharon Rose, Pamela Fine, Deborah, Blythe, and the late Dane Womax.
He is also survived by foru grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services were Aug. 13 in the chapel of Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, LaPlace, with private interment.
