DUMAS

EDGARD – Stelphiner Grows Dumas, 58, a native of Edgard and resident of Wallace, died July 17. She was the wife of Ronald Dumas and mother of Denine and Delicia Dumas.

She was also the sister of Thelma Louis, Mildred Clark, Amy Narcisse, Joseph Jr., Lionel Grows Sr., and the late Hilda Bally, Beulah Bally and Clarence Grows.

Services were July 22 at Second African Baptist Church, Edgard, with interment at Willow Grove Cemetery, Wallace.

FINNEY

NEW ORLEANS – Marilyn Bardell Finney, a native of Mt. Airy and resident of New Orleans, died July 15. She was the wife of the late Eddie Finney Jr., and mother of Edwin Finney.

She was also the sister of Henry Bardell, and the late Elsie Allen, Thelma Granderson, Ella Mae Alexis, Otis and Dallas Bardell Sr.

She is also survived by two grandchildren.

Services were July 22 at Fifth African Baptist Church, New Orleans, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve.

ROSS

EDGARD – Bernard Ross Sr., 51, a native and resident of Wallace, died July 18. He was the husband of Kay Ann Ross, father of Shakema and Bernard Ross Jr., and stepfather of Zara and Crystal Stipe.

He was also the son of Shirley Ross Gibson, and the late John Gibson, and brother of Albert Craig Jr., John Gibson III, Bernadette Bardoin and Cheryl Dodd.

He is also survived by 10 grandchildren.

Services were July 22 at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, Edgard, with interment at Willow Grove Cemetery, Wallace.

THOMAS

LAPLACE – Irvin Thomas Sr., 70, a native of St. James, died July 17. He was the father of Irvin Thomas Jr.

He was also the brother of Edna Grace.

Services were July 22 at Milesville Memorial Church of God in Christ, LaPlace, with interment at Zion Travelers Cemetery, Lions.

WINCHESTER

ST. JAMES – John Winchester Sr., 89, a native and resident of St. James, died July 19. He was the husband of the late Mary Winchester, and father of Sylvia Tankerson, Janel Gordon, Florence, Yolanda, John Jr., Sylvester Sr., Charles, Alcus Sr., Paul, David and Joseph Winchester Sr.

He was also the brother of Helena Burrell, Mary Evelyn Page, and the late Felix Josephand Sammie Lee Winchester.

He is also survived by 30 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services were July 22 at St. James Catholic Church, St. James, with interment at the church cemetery.
