BANKS

MT. AIRY – Louis Jimmie Banks, 60, a native of Lutcher and resident of Mt. Airy, died June 1. He was the father of Stacie Banks.

He was also the brother of Bertha Mae McGuire, Mammie Lee Williams, Mary Ann Belvin, Linda “Marsha” Williams, Barbara Jean Rixner, Ernest Carter Jr. Edward Shorty, Dennis Manuel and Eddie Banks Sr.

Services were June 5 at St. John Baptist Church, Mt. Airy, with interment at Zion Travelers Cemetery, Lions.

DUFRENE

DES ALLEMANDS – Elizabeth Rosemary Dufrene, 84, a native of Gheens and resident of Des Allemands, died June 6. She was the wife of the late Mitchell Dufrene, and mother of Sarah Hebert and Marion Johnson, and the late Nina and Ranzel Dufrene.

She was also the daughter of the late Wilson and Razie Adams Dufrene, and sister of Alfred Dufrene, and the late Philomene Savoie, Sylvest, Evest, Johnny, Paul, Robert, Albert and Annais “Shorty” Dufrene.

She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

Services were June 8 at First Assembly of God Church, Des Allemands, with interment at Rogers-Matherne Cemetery, Bayou Blue.

DUHE

LAPLACE – Edna Mae Ockman Duhe, 64, a native and resident of Reserve, died June 4. She was the wife of Lawrence Duhe Sr., and mother of margie LeBranche, Gail White, Belinda Keating, Lynn Duhe and Lawrence “Larry” Duhe Jr.

She was also the daughter of Clementing Ockman, and the late Lynn Ockman.

She is also survived by seven grandchildren.

Services were June 6 in the chapel of Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, LaPlace, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve.

JOSEPH

LAPLACE – Mary D. Joseph, 73, a native and resident of New Sarpy, died June 2. She was the wife of the late Clarence Joseph Sr., and mother of Antoine Joseph, and the late Alexander Carter Jr. and Clarence Joseph Jr.

She was also the daughter of the late Leona Phillips and Isiah Douglas, and sister of Grace Lewis, Willie Lee Miller, Cardell Short, “Lou” Ethel Mae, Roosevelt, Joseph, Myrtle and Isiah Douglas Jr.

She is also survived by four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services were June 8 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, LaPlace, with interment at New Sarpy Cemetery, New Sarpy.

MELANCON

PAULINA – Linden Joseph Melancon, 84, a native of Sorrento and resident of Lutcher, died June 4. He was the husband of the late Mildred Cedotal Melancon, and father of Judy Vicknair, Gerald, Charles and Linden Melancon.

He was also the son of the late Benjamin and Claudia Richardson Melancon, and brother of Winnia Reine, and the late Julie “Noon” Schling, Nora Lambert, Doria Hanna, Carl, Benny, Lester and Windom Melancon.

He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

He was retired from LP&L/Entergy and a member of VFW Post 5852, Lions Club, St. James Boat Club and the Lutcher Quarterback Club.

Services were June 7 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Paulina, with interment at the church cemetery.

MILLER

LAPLACE – Leola Miller, 82, a native of LaPlace and resident of Sorrento, died June 2. She was the mother of Beverly Lewis, Cynthia Woods, Donald and Reginald Miller.

She was also the daughter of the late Edgard and Florence Narcisse.

She is also survived by a host of brothers, sisters, sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services were June 7 at Providence No. 1 Baptist Church, LaPlace, with interment at Providence Rest Haven Cemetery, LaPlace.

RICHARDSON

LAPLACE – Eddie Lee Richardson, 47, a native of St. Louis and resident of Reserve, died May 30. He was the husband of Barbara Breaux Richardson and father of Bethena McClain, LaShanda Williams, Jakata Powe, Ranadaka Shortt, Kenneth Shortt and Cortez Richardson.

He was also the brother of Marie Coates, Constance Coates, Maxine, Deborah, Willie and Denise Richardson.

He is also survived by a host of grandchildren.

Services were June 6 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, LaPlace.

SPICE

DESTREHAN – Florence Robinson Spice, 91, a longtime resident of Destrehan, died June 6. She is survived by a host of friends and neighbors.

Services are today at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Destrehan, with interment at the church mausoleum. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

VICTOR

RESERVE – Chester Victor Sr., a resident of Reserve, died June 3. He was the husband of Myrtle F. Victor and father of Dena Moll, Elvera Pouinds, Pastor Jacqueline Sippio, Wanda Ursin, Kenneth, Thaddeus, Chester Jr., Errol and the Rev. Harlan Victor.

He was also the son of the late Paul Sr. and Celia Victor, and brother of Evelina Diggs, Helen Etienne and Ferman Victor Sr., and the late Cora Lee Smith, Gladys Warner, Dorothy Mae Jones and Paul Victor Jr.

He is also survived by 34 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Reserve, with interment at St. John Memorial Gardens, LaPlace. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

VINNETT

ST. ROSE – Wilbert Vinnett, 81, a native and resident of St. Rose, died May 28. He was the husband of the late Clara Mae Williams Vinnett, and father of Gwendolyn Isler, Tanesha, and the late Wilbert Vinnett Jr.

He was also the son of the late Olivia Blue and Oscar Vinnett, and brother of Audrey Eugene, Cora Anderson, August Vinnett, and the late Pearl Rodney, Octavia Paul, Benjamin, Curtis Sr., Evelyn and Oscar Vinnett Jr.

He is also survived by two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services were June 5 at Fifth African Baptist Church, St. Rose, with interment at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, St. Rose.
