“Get High on Life” – Harold Keller

In the past, I’ve often come down pretty hard on fathers who refuse to be the head of their homes and do not provide the moral leadership required to be good role models for their children.

One issue I’ve never addressed is mothers who push their young daughters to have relationships with boys at too early an age. I’ve seen mothers who aggressively seek boy company for their little girls as early as 11, 12, or 13 years of age. It’s not uncommon for ambitious, overly aggressive mothers, who are still trying to act like teen-agers, to arrange meetings with girls and boys late at night and to organize unsupervised house parties where alcohol sometimes is permitted. A few mothers I know will even entertain boys at their homes when they skip school.

It breaks my heart to see adults behave in such a manner. It’s sad to see young girls encouraged to live such a destructive lifestyle, which in the end will cause heartache and misery. My heart goes out to all the young girls who are misdirected by their mothers.

To the mothers who might be guilty of pushing their young girls into boy-girl relationships at an early age, this is what the future may hold:

1. It’s a good chance your daughters will become sexually active at an early age. With sexual activity comes a possibility of teen-age pregnancy.

2. The lifestyle you are encouraging your daughters to have will introduce them to drugs and alcohol when they are bored with your entertainment.

3. A disrespect for authority will surely surface, and the little girls whom you introduce to such activity will not respect you.

If any of you reading this column are guilty of such behavior, I encourage you to stop before it’s too late. Your children are looking for direction in life. They are a gift from God. What they are is God’s gift to you. What they become is your gift to God.
