LAPLACE – A knife fight between two LaPlace women ended Saturday with one arrest, according to Capt. Michael Tregre of the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Jilleion Cheatham, 22, of 185-D Joe Parquet Circle, was charged with aggravated battery and disturbing the peace by fighting.

Deputies responded to the disturbance call at 2:34 p.m. to find the alleged victim, an 18-year-old neighbor. The neighbor had sustained a large cut to her right forearm which required several stitches.

The two encountered each other on the street and began arguing, according to the incident report, when one pulled out a curtain rod and struck the other on the forehead.

Friends separated them, but Cheatham then entered the home of the alleged victim, who ran for the back door, only to be slashed once in the arm after she slipped down, trying to escape.

In another incident, a 9-year-old boy was reported choked by a bus driver for Riverside Academy, Tregre said.

Tregre said the driver allegedly grabbed the boy from behind, by the shirt, choking him. Possible charges are pending, he added
