At its annual membership meeting, new officers were voted in for the River Region Arts and Humanities Council.

The new officers are: President Randy Desoto, first Vice-President Cecile Bradley, second Vice-President Marilyn Vicknair, Secretary Audrey Giardina and Treasurer Cynthia Aucoin. RRAHC is a grant organization designed to promote the arts and humanities, preserve and enhance local cultures, and support art education in the River Region.

The Council will host its largest fundraiser, Jazz and Juleps, on May 16 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Destrehan Plantation. There will be food, fun, and friends accompanied by a jazz band. A silent auction featuring Magnolia’s will highlight the event. Tickets are $40 a person or two or more tickets are $35 each. Tickets can also be purchased at the door or by contacting Sandra Chaisson at 985-764-9596.
