St. John
BABIN
PAULINA – Viola Rome Babin, 76, a native and resident of Lutcher, died March 27. She was the wife of Cyril J. Babin and mother of Robert Babin, Alice Wisniowiecki, Jane Choucka, Mary Chauvin, Gail Roussel, Paul Babin and Joan Hymel.
She was also the daughter of the late Charles and Alice M. Rome, stepdaughter of the late Theresa M. Rome, and sister of Olga R. Lambert, Charles Rome, Jr., Olivia ”Te-Note” Mc Lean, Diana, Ruth, and Mark Rome, the late Lester Rome, Leland Rome, Shirley Rome, and Velma R. Martin. Also Stepmother: the late Theresa M. Rome.
She is survived by 24 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services were March 30 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Paulina with interment in church mausoleum.
BORNE
EDGARD – Danny ”Golo” Borne, 58, a native and resident of Edgard, died March 24. He was the father of Danielle Harris.
He was also the son of Claire Borne, and the late Aubrey Borne, Sr., and the brother of Diana Dumas, Stella Borne, Dafney B. Washington, Claudia Bailey, Charlene Johnson, Wendy Johnson, Veronica Schexnayder, Barbara B. Lewis, Debra Johnson, Madeline Marsh, Doretha Steib, Aubrey Borne Jr., Michael, Lonnie and Rickie Borne.
He is survived by three grandchildren.
Services were March 30 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Edgard.
JOHNSON
LULING – Henry Lee Johnson, 77, a native of Dry Prong and resident of Luling for 50 years, died March 27. He was the husband of Lois Rita Toups for 54 years and father of Cassie Kaplan, Kerry Hotard, Gregory, Rick, Shannon, Tracy, and thelate Wendell Johnson.
He was also the son of the late Alphonso and Sarah D. Johnson, and brother of Earline Jones, Florine Swinson and Winard Johnson, and the late Julius Herman and Pearl Fralick.
He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, the former owner of Little Schoolhouse Supplies and a retired supervisor at Monsanto.
Services were were March 30 at First Baptist Church, Luling, with interment at St. Charles Mausoleum, Luling.
MADERE
LAPLACE – Robert W. Madere, 71, a native and resident of LaPlace, died March 28.
He was the husband of Carolyn Guidry Madere and father of Troy and Amanda Madere.
He was also the son of the late Robert and Simone Madere, and brother of Judy Evans.
He is also survived by three grandchildren.
Memorial services are April 2 at 11 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, LaPlace.
Mayeux
PLAUCHEVILLE – Betty Gauthier Mayeux, 71, a native of Cottonport, a resident of Norco for 26 years, died March 27.
She was the wife of the late Gerard A. Mayeux, and the mother of Cynthia Mayeux Smith, Dwayne Mayeux, Dana M. Keller, and the late Darlene Mayeux.
She was the daughter of the late Hilton and Aimee’ Lacombe Gauthier, and the sister of Anna Marie G. Veade, Barbara G. Mondello, James Gauthier and Ronald Gauthier and the late Herbert, Edward, Gerard Gauthier, Mary Ellen G. Bowman and Amy G. Mayeaux.
She is survived by seven grandchildren and two great grand-children.
Services were March 30 at Dolorasa Catholic Church, Plaucheville.
VICKNAIR
RESERVE – Lillian Vicknair, 94, a native and resident of Reserve, died March 27.
She was the wife of the late Lawrence J. Vicknair and the mother of Earl J. Vick,nair.
She was also the daughter of the late Augustin and Marie Vice Vicknair, and sister of Julia Fisher, the late Edna Kendall, Margaret Gremillion and August Vicknair.
She is survived by three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services were March 30 at St. Peter Catholic Church with interment in church cemetery.
WAGUESPACK
VACHERIE – Adam Theodore Waguespack Jr., 78, a resident of Vacherie, died March 23.
He was the husband of 51 years of Virginia Waguespack and father of Anthony, Dale, Paul and Brian Waguespack.
He is also survived by 10 grandchildren.
He was a retired employee of Waguespack Insurance Agency for 48 years.
Services were March 25 at St. Philip Catholic Church, Vacherie, with interment at the church mausoleum.
ZERINGUE
EDGARD – Clifton Antoine Zeringue, 72, a native of Smoke Bend and resident of Vacherie for 60 years, died March 29.
He was the husband of Norma Jeanne Zeringue and father of Toni Perez.
He was also the son of the late Antoine “Sam” and Zoe Zeringue, and brother of A.J. and Percy Zeringue, and the late Clarence Zeringue Sr.
He is also survived by two grandchildren.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Edgard, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.
