LAPLACE – St. John Parish authorities took a man into custody Friday afternoon suspected of being the person who allegedly tried to rape a woman in Jefferson Parish Wednesday but came away with a wounded face.

An anonymous tip to the sheriff’s office led them to an address on Greenwood Drive in LaPlace, where Brock W. Tisdale, 25, last known of Ponchatoula, was taken into custody by St. John detectives, according to Col. John Fortunato of the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office

Fortunato said Tisdale would be charged with attempted aggravated rape, aggravated burglary and second-degree kidnapping.

The victim reported that a man allegedly tried to sexually assault the 22-year-old Metairie woman, but shefought him off by grabbing a pair of scissors and stabbing his face.

The woman told detectives she left her apartment in the 2300 block of Harvard Street about 3:45 a.m. to use a pay phone at a convenience store at Clearview Parkway and West Napoleon Avenue, the report said.

As she walked back, a man approached her from behind and forced her to return to her apartment.

The man removed some of her clothing, and he was taking off his pants, when the woman began punching and kicking him. She grabbed the scissors and stabbed his face, the report said.

Holding his face, the man fled on foot.
