Here’s the rules

It’s the time of the season, locally, to roll out the streets, stake out your spots and settle in to enjoy the parades in the River Parishes.

Also, in St. Charles Parish, both Krewes work with St. Charles Social Concerns in accepting donations of jars of peanut butter. This is used for charitable food pantries throughout the year and it’s a welcome time to give back to the community.

There’s a few rules for Carnival, and they’re easy to keep. If you drink, DON’T drive. Keep your clothes on. Leave the firearms locked up at home. Relax and behave yourself. Watch out for the other person. If you see someone who needs help, please help them.

Undoubtedly, children will scamper and run after beads and other throws. Let’s all keep both eyes open and do what we can to prevent accidents.

If you see a crime being committed, call a deputy. Otherwise, stay out of their way, and if a police officer tells you to back up or move, do so immediately and without question. They’re all working hard, so let’s keep that in mind. Above all, respect one another at all times.

It’s really simple to enjoy Mardi Gras. Let’s keep it fun and clean.
