St. John

FERNANDEZ

LAPLACE – Arthur “Totes” Fernandez Sr, 96, a native of Napoleonville and resident of LaPlace for 23 years died Feb. 18. He was the father of Arthur Fernandez Jr., Richard Fernandez, Thomas Fernandez and Jane Faucheux.

He is survived by 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

He attended Jefferson College and served in the army for three years as a sergeant. He received a Purple Heart and five battle stars.

Services were Feb 20 at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, LaPlace, with interment at Garden of Memories, Metairie.

LUMAR

EDGARD – Morris (Rip) (Pass Pickle), 73, a native and resident of Edgard died Feb. 17. He was the father of Valeria L. Brown, Morris Jr and Darrell Lumar.

He was also the son of the late Horace and Alma Lumar and the brother of Mildred Samuel, Brenetta Dunmiles, Darrell and Anderson Lumar and the late Welmond Helmond and Hermond Lumar.

He is also survived by five grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Greater New St. Peter Baptist Church, Edgard, with interment at Young Cemetery, Edgard. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.

MONTZ

LAPLACE – Camille Bourgeois Montz, 88, a native of Lutcher and 60 year resident of LaPlace died Feb 17.

She is the wife of the late Roy J. Montz, and the mother of Dwayne and Rodney Montz, Carolyn A. Perego, and the late Barry J. Montz.

She was also the daughter of the late Emily and Aloysius Bourgeois, and the sister of Emma Feucht, the late Nolan, Adolph, Junius and Bourgeois, Yvonne Foret, Evelyn Snipes, and Inez Babin.

Services are today at 1 p.m. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, LaPlace, with interment at St. Peter Cemetary, Reserve. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

STAYTON

KENNER – David Neal Stayton, 82, a native of Palestine, Ark. and resident of Destrehan, died Feb. 16.

He was the husband of Marilyn Braud Stayton and the father of Bill and Marilyn Rieniets, and Jeanne Stayton.

He is survived by three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was a retired avionics mechanic.

Services were Feb. 19 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Muhleisen and Son Funeral Home, Kenner, with interment at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery, Destrehan.

STONE

RACELAND – John Paul Stone, 21, a native of Canton, Miss. and resident of Luling,died Feb. 14.

He was the son of Fred and Susan Stone, stepson of William Vernor, and brother of Barbie and Jamie Stone.

He was also the grandson of Raymond and Anna Pickett and Paul Stone, and the great-grandson of Sarah Clewis.

Services were Feb. 18 at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Falgout Funeral Home, Raceland, with interment at Mt. Airy Cemetery, Boutte.
