St. John

ADAMS

KENNER – Jesse Harold Adams, 19, a native of Metairie and lifelong resident of LaPlace, died Feb. 5. He was the son of James Jr. and Lisa Cordes Adams and brother of Jessica and Jimmy Adams III.

He was also the fiancé of Allison Cupid.

He was also the grandchild of Warren and Elizabeth Cordes and Shirley Adams.

He attended Riverside Academy, East St. John High School and East Jefferson High School.

Services are Feb. 9 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of L.A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home, Kenner, with interment at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, St. Rose. Visitation is Sunday from 6-9 p.m. and Monday starting at 9 a.m.

ALBRECHT

NEW ORLEANS – Sister Mary Louise Albrecht, 84, a native and resident of New Orleans, died Feb. 2. She was a former teacher at St. Joseph’s in Paulina and St. Peter’s in Reserve.

She graduated from Loyola University and received a master’s degree and doctorate from Catholic University. She taught at several Catholic schools in the River Parishes and New Orleans and served as an assistant principal at St. Mary’s Dominican High School, an English professor at St. Joseph’s Seminary College in Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University and Catholic University in Washington D.C.

She was also a 14-year professor and professor emeritus at Southeastern Louisiana University.

Services were Feb. 5 at Dominican Sisters Motherhouse Chapel, New Orleans, with interment at Dominican Sisters Cemetery, Rosaryville, Ponchatoula.

BOURGEOIS

PENSACOLA, FLA. – Marguerite Heuss Bourgeois, 93, a native of Seattle, Wash., former resident of Paulina and resident of Pensacola, Fla., died Jan. 25.

She was the wife of 69 years of Rear Admiral Aubrey Bourgeois and mother of Suzanne Rabil, Judith Jensen, Josephine and Capt. Aubrey Bourgeois Jr. (ret.).

She was also the daughter of the late Fritz and Henriette Heuss.

She is also survived by six grandchldren and one step-grandchild.

She was a secretary to the superintendent of Boulder Dam and later secretary to the commanding officer of the San Diego Naval Supply Depot.

Services were Jan. 27 at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, Pensacola, Fla., with interment at Barancas National Cemetery.

CARTER

DONALDSONVILLE – Theresa Johnson Carter, 59, a native of St. James and resident of Donaldsonville, died Jan. 28.

She was the mother of Stephanie Harry, Sandy Celestin, Cynthia, Margarete, David and Michael Carter and ron Johnson.

She was also the daughter of Rebecca Washington Johnson, and the late Edward Johnson Sr., and sister of Shirley Dixon, Brenda Simmons, Paulette, Gloria, Paul, Edward Jr. and Ronald Johnson, and the late Diane Knockum, Eula Mae Brown, Jacquelyn Robinson, Warren and Joseph Johnson.

She is also survived by nine grandchildren.

Services were Feb. 5 at Mt. Salem Baptist Church, Donaldsonville, with interment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, St. James.

GUION

LAPLACE – William Rogers Guion Jr., 59, a native of New Orleans and resident of LaPlace, died Feb. 3. He was the husband of Lorraine Guion and father of Monique, Bill III and Scott Guion.

He is also survived by two grandchildren.

He was a realtor and a musician.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church, LaPlace.

McGUIRE

LAPLACE – James F. McGuire, 79, a native of Tennessee and resident of Reserve for 27 years, died Feb. 2. He was the husband of Alice Scioneaux McGuire and father of Pat Nichols, Carolyn Madere and Richard McGuire.

He was also the son of the late Thomas and Willie McGuire, and brother of Mary DePoister, Marcy Johnson, June Speighps, Neva Smith, Martha Finnman, William and Gerald McGuire, and the late Willie Mae Blalock.

He is also survived by five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services were Feb. 5 in the chapel of Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, LaPlace, with interment at St. John Memorial Gardens, LaPlace.

STEWARD

NEW ORLEANS – Peter Steward, 76, a native of Convent and resident of New Orleans, died Feb. 1. He was the husband of Aline Aikens Steward.

He was also the brother of Elizabeth Dorsey.

He was a retired microfilm operator for Copeland Blue Printing Co.

Services are today at 10 a.m. in the chapel of D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home, New Orleans, with interment at St. Michael Cemetery, Convent.
