St. John

ADAMS

ST. ROSE – Dustin Matthew Adams, 16, a native and resident of St. Rose, died Jan. 9. He was the son of Donald Adams Sr. and Jennifer Williams Adams, stepson of Michael Tucker, and brother of Dana, Daphanee, Darren and Donald Adams Jr.

He was also the grandchild of Maxine Smith Williams, and the late August Williams, Louis and Dorothy Adams.

He was a student at Albert Cammon Middle School.

CAMBRE

MOBILE, AL. – Catherine Clarke Cambre, 85, a native of Columbus, Miss. and resident of Garyville for 65 years, died Jan. 11. She was the wife of Aramand Cambre.

She was a retired analyst for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Services were Jan. 14 at Mobile Memorial Gardens, Mobile, Ala.

Services were Jan. 15 at Fifth African Baptist Church, St. Rose, wtih interment at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, St. Rose.

DORSEY

CONVENT – Milton Dorsey, 71, a native of Welcome and resident of Convent, died Jan. 8. He was the husband of Bernice Dorsey and father of Crystal Hunter, Horace and Lionel Dorsey, and the late Milton Dorsey III, and also the stepfather of the late Joseph Lawson.

He was also the son of the late William and Hazel Braxton Dorsey.

He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Services were Jan. 13 at Pilgrim Baptist Church, Convent, with interment at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Convent.

FAHRIG

LULING – Jasper Frederick Fahrig Sr., 75, a native of St. Louis and resident of Luling, died Jan. 10. He was the father of Deborah Corrao, Chanda Burge, Rachel Billot, Ruth Koederitz, Jonathan, Willam and Jasper Fahrig Jr., and the late Christian II and Brian Fahrig.

He was also the son of the late Christian and Helen Moore Fahrig, and brother of Gwendolyn Caillet and Georgia Matherne.

He is also survived by 24 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and the retired owner of a transportation company.

Services were Jan. 13 at First Union Presbyterian Church, Luling.

JOHNSON

GARYVILLE – Helen Foster Johnson, 79, a native of Lions and resident of Garyville, died Jan. 10. She was the wife of the late Anthony Johnson Jr., and mother of Artemise Williams, Leo, Anthony III, Cleveland Sr. and Beryl Johnson.

She was also the guardian of Shirley Anderson, Cleveland Jr. and De Mark Johnson.

She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Services were Jan. 15 at Greater New Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Garyville, with interment at Zion Travelers Cemetery, Lions.

JONES

LAPLACE – Dawn Marie Jones, 39, a native of New Orleans and resident of LaPlace for seven years, died Jan 10. She was the mother of Joshua Jones, Johanna and Dagan Spalt.

She was also the daughter of Ronnie Jones Sr. and sister of Cheri Moesta and Ronnie Jones Jr.

Services were Jan. 16 at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church, LaPlace, with interment at St. John Memorial Gardens, LaPlace.

MELANCON

LAPLACE – Gracie Banks Melancon, 79, a native and resident of LaPlace, died Jan. 12. She was the wife of the late Oliver Melancon, and stepmother of Barbara Moon and Melvin Melancon.

She was also the daughter of the late Willie and Mehalia Banks, and sister of Norman Banks, and the late Elnora Noble, Flossie Anderson, William, Junius, Lumas, Louis and Matthew Banks.

Services were Jan. 15 at Providence Baptist Church No. 1, LaPlace, with interment at the church cemetery.

MELANCON

LAPLACE – Linda Costa Melancon, 46, a native of Neptune, N.J. and resident of LaPlace for four years, died Jan. 13. She was the wife of Michael Melancon and mother of Jacklyn and Bridget Toal, Christopher, Stephanie and Saralaya Melancon.

She was also the daughter of Anita Stasi, and the late Anthony Stasi, and sister of Denise Eitel.

Services were Jan. 15 in the chapel of Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, LaPlace, with interment at St. John Memorial Gardens, LaPlace.

RINI

NEW ORLEANS – Eric Anthony RIni, 61, a native of New Orleans and resident of Destrehan, died Jan. 9. He was the husband of Diane Siben Rini and father of Michele Unger, Melinda Pickren and Erica Allain.

He was also the brother of John and Alan Rini.

He is also survived by five grandchildren.

He was a retired chemical engineer.

Services were Jan. 13 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, New Orleans, with interment at St. Roch Cemetery No. 2.
