Garyville Volunteer Fire Department recently celebrated Forty-six years of service. The Annual Awards Banquet was recently held at St. Hubert’s Hall in Garyville.
Fire Chief Faron Duhe presented several awards at the banquet and all members received a two-piece sweat suit with the fire department logo.
Shaine Hymel was honored as “Most Improved Firefighter”, Chief Faron Duhe received the Earl Baloney Jr. Memorial Award for Outstanding First Responder, this award is voted by the General Membership, Duhe received the Award back in 1999 and 2002 and Lieutenant Jacques Montz was named “Firefighter of the Year.”Firefighter Seth Louque received the “Outstanding Performance Award.”
Fire Chief Faron Duhe presented Fire Chief’s Award to Councilman Allen St. Pierre; Duhe talked at the banquet about how Allen has been assisting the Fire Department over the past several years, keeping us informed with projects such as the water system improvements, road repairs, cleaning up abandoned structures and vehicles, changes and new additions that are taking place throughout the fire district. Just to name a few, preparing the food for the Fire Prevention Open House, Senior Citizen Programs, and Sometimes for the General Member-ship meetings during Fire Prevention Week. He is also very supportive in passing the quarter cent sales tax for paid fireman in the parish.
Life Member John P. Levron Jr. was presented a service pin for twenty-five years of service. Attending guests were Public Safety Director Paul Oncale and Councilman Allen St. Pierre.
