LaPlace woman in hot water with police

LAPLACE – A LaPlace woman was arrested Sunday after she allegedly walked into the bathroom and threw a pot of boiling hot water on her husband as he took a shower on Saturday afternoon.

According to the affadavit filed before Justice of the Peace Rosemary Monica, she the fled the scene, and he dashed naked to a neighbor’s residence to seek assistance after sustaining burns to his back.

Later, a deputy found a still-hot pot in the bathroom, as well as a still-hot left rear burner on the stove.

On Jan. 4, Theresa “Big T” Guillard Shinard Ducre, 37, of 1531 Natchez Lane, was charged with domestic violence, aggravated battery, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, resisting an officer by simple violence, flight from an officer in a motor vehicle, aggravated flight from an officer by speeding, aggravated flight from an officer by traveling against traffic and two counts disregarding stop signs.

Capt. Michael Tregre reported that when a deputy located Shinard, she fled a parking lot in the 800 block of East Airline

Highway in a black 1995 Honda Accord at a high rate of speed, traveling west on the highway against the flow of traffic and then onto an access road.

She then allegedly jumped the railroad tracks, with the deputy in pursuit, at such a speed the deputy could see completely under her vehicle on Cardinal Street.

Shinard allegedly ran two stop signs as she pulled onto West Third Street and then into a church parking lot in the 100 block.

At this point, Tregre continued, she left her vehicle and entered the church, where she was taken into custody. Her husband received treatment at River Parishes Hospital for his burns.
