BOURGEOIS

SOUTH VACHERIE – Bernadette Oubre Bourgeois, 76, a native and resident of Vacherie, died June 10. She was the wife of Edward Bourgeois and mother of Rodney Bourgeois.

She was also the daughter of the late Pamphile and Vesire Ockman Oubre, and sister of the late Althea Haas.

She is also survived by six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services were June 12 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, South Vacherie, with interment at the church mausoleum.

DARLINGTON

VACHERIE – Bridget Anne Legendre Darlington, 30, a native of Vacherie and resident of Baton Rouge, died June 9. She was the wife of Andrew Carey Darlington.

She was also the daughter of Percy Jr. and Elaine Waguespack Legendre and sister of Lynette Eliser, Angela james, Natalie Harper, Elaine Curley, Lenore Charlton, Helen Bohan, Percy III and Reginald Legendre.

She was also the grandchild of Vernice Peltier Legendre, and the late Francis Sr. and Lucille Waguespack and Percy Legendre Sr.

She was the research director for Grubb & Ellis/ Coldstream Real Estate Advisors Inc. in Bedford, N.H., and formerly a research analyst for the Louisiana Legislative Fiscal Office in Baton Rouge.

Services were June 11 at St. Philip Catholic Church, Vacherie, with interment at the church mausoleum.

DOUCET

RAYNE – Gwendolyn Jeffers Doucet, 74, a native of Rayne and a resident of LaPlace for more than 40 years, died June 7. She was the wife of the late Adam Doucet, and mother of Tammy Chauvin, Belinda, Gerald and Jeff Doucet.

She was also the daughter of the late Elmer and Wilma Jeffers, and sister of Sandra Cormier, Joann Richey, Marjorie and Hugh Jeffers.

She is also survived by one grandchild.

Services were June 10 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rayne, with interment at the church cemetery.

MODICA

NEW ORLEANS – Iveron G. Modica, 58, a native of New Orleans and resident of LaPlace for four years, died June 3. He was the father of Charmaine Mason and Aaron Shelby.

He was also the brother of Mary Jetson, Irene Barze, Brenda, Louis Jr. and Larry Modica.

He was also a U.S. Army veteran and a cemeteries employee of the Archdiocese of New Orleans for many years.

Services were June 11 in the chapel of Estelle J. Wilson Funeral Home, New Orleans, with interment at Providence Park.

PACE

LAPLACE – Joann Victor Pace, 50, a native and resident of Montz, died June 8. She was the mother of Corinne Lynn and Michael Pace.

She was also the daughter of Theresa Victor, and the late Joseph Victor, and sister of Jacqueline Scott, Paulette, Ronald, Carl, Perry and the late Timothy Victor.

She is also survived by one grandchild.

Services were June 13 at St. Michael Baptist Church, LaPlace, with interment at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery, Destrehan.

STEWART

NEW SARPY – Leona Bady Stewart, 61, a native and resident of New Sarpy, died June 4. She was the mother of Paul and Paulette Ruffin, George and Wanda Brown, Charles, Jerry and Keith Marvin, LaSonya Maxon, Kimberly Johnson, and the late Willie Brown Jr.

She was also the sister of Virgie Jenkins, Martha Jackson, Marvel Johnson, Doris Early, Jesse Barney, and the late Gladys Bridges.

She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was a retired cafeteria worker for the St. Charles Parish school system.

Services were June 11 at St. Matthew Baptist Church, New Sarpy, with interment at New Sarpy Cemetery.
