ALLEN
KENNER – Doretha Butler Allen, 74, a native of Gramercy and resident of Kenner for 40 years, died March 14. She was the mother of Euralee Brown, Ethel Lee James, Gloria Pratt, Delores Grimes, Joseph Jr., James Jones and Christopher Tyler.
She was also the sister of Otis Butler Sr.
She is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was a retired licensed practical nurse at Charity Hospital.
Services were March 20 at Cypress Grove Baptist Church, Kenner, with interment at Providence Memorial Park.
BATISTE
LAPLACE – Leona Millet Batiste, 83, a native and resident of LaPlace, died March 15. She was the wife of the late Herman Batiste, mother of Joann, Calabe, Adam, Bruce and Nolan Batiste, and the late Brenda Batiste, and stepmother of Joseph Landry Jr. and Bobbie Batiste.
She was also the daughter of the late Orelia Alger and Adam Millet, and sister of Augustine Dennis, Joseph and Claude Millet, and the late Ceola Payne, Dorothy Jones, Wilbert, Whitney and Julia Millet.
She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at Providence Baptist Church, LaPlace, with interment at Resthaven Cemetery, LaPlace. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.
COWART
LAPLACE – Patsy Jones Cowart, 58, a native of Transylvania and resident of LaPlace, died March 18. She was the wife of Billy Cowart and mother of Theresa LeBlanc, Carol Ougel and Billie Cowart.
She was also the daughter of Lola Gibbs, and the late P.G. Gibbs and Homer Jones, and sister of Ann Watson, Judy Faul, Susan Keller, Billie Guerera, Pete and David Jones.
She is also survived by eight grandchildren.
Services were March 18 in the chapel of Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, LaPlace, with interment at Lone Cedar Cemetery, Winnsboro.
ESNEAULT
GRAMERCY – Warner “Frenchy” “Na-Coo” Sylvester Esneault, 77, a resident of Gramercy, died March 18. He was the husband of the late Marilyn Lassere Esneault, and father of Mary Etta Morris, Mary Carol Taylor.
He was also the son of the late Jules and Lydia Esneault, and brother of Helen “Tootie” Bailey, and the late Beryl Bergeron, Lydia Stewart and Jules Esneault Jr.
He is also survived by three grandchildren.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and received the Purple Heart. He was also a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5282 and retired from Kaiser Chemical.
Services were March 20 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Gramercy, with interment at St. Joseph Mausoleum, Paulina.
MIZELL
RESERVE – Ronald Mizell Sr., 58, a native of New Orleans and resident of Reserve, died March 16. He was the husband of Audrey Delia Mizell and father of Klona Bowers, Trina Morrow, Beatrice, Sanya, Ronald Jr. and Kentroy Mizell, and stepfather of Anthony and Gregory Lennix.
He was also the brother of Myrtle Nicholson, Fannie and Harrison Mizell.
He is also survived by seven grandchildren.
He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, recipient of the Purple Heart and a retired steelworker.
Services were March 18 at Pilgrim Baptist Church, Reserve, wit intemrent at Bethlehem Baptist Cemetery, Reserve.
ROSE
AVONDALE – Henry Rose Jr., 84, a native of LaPlace and resident of Gretna for 44 years, died March 15. He was the father of Rita Gibson, Edna Britton and Nathaniel Rose.
He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a retired machine operator at Thigpen Constructiion Co.
Services were March 21 at Mt. Herman Baptist Family Life Center, Avondale, with interment at Restlawn Park.
TERRIO
HARAHAN – Elaine Mary Granier Terrio, 80, a native of Edgard and resident of Harahan for 34 years, died March 16. She was the wife of the late Roy Terrio Sr., and mother of Roy Jr., Kenneth and Wayne Terrio.
She was also the daughter of the late Lionel and Cecile Gabrielle Faucheaux Granier, and sister of Rita Curry, and the late Eunice Zeringue.
She is also survived by seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services were March 18 at St. Rita Catholic Church, Harahan, with interment at Garden of Memories.
